Tony Blackburn was born 19th March 1938 and joined the RAF in 1955 at the recruiting office at Pownall Square, Liverpool. His service number was 3521824.

He did his square-bashing at West Kirby and trade training (Engine mech [pistons]) at RAF Weeton.

Tony's first posting was to RAF Sylt and then to RAF Schleswigland with 26 Squadron. He then went to RAF Ahlhorn, RAF Gutersloh, and finally to RAF Manby having worked on Mosquitos, Hunters, Varsities, Valettas and Lincolns.

He left the Air Force in 1960 and joined the Lancashire Constabulary from which he retired as a sergeant in 1988. Having done a patchwork quilt of jobs since then he is now retired and on a pension. 

Tony was born a half scouser (Huyton) but now lives in the Preston area.
